Peer Support Specialist Training

NOTE: There are ONLY 20 slots available for the 2025 NOSW Peer Support Specialist Training. This opportunity is only available to Berea NOSW Residential Graduates.

Please read the application requirements carefully before applying. To be eligible for the NOSW Peer Support Specialist Program, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  • Be a graduate of the Berea NOSW Residential Program 
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED 
  • Be over the age of 18 
  • Have an active diagnosis of Mental Health and/or Substance Use Disorder  
  • Be actively engaged in their recovery 
  • Been in Active Recovery consistently for 1 year or more

Referral Letter Requirement

Applicants must submit a referral letter from a professional they are actively working with in their recovery. Acceptable professionals include: therapist, psychiatrist, case worker, Peer Support Specialist, AA/NA leader, any other professional you are working closely with to maintain your recovery, or your current employer (only acceptable if employer is aware of your recovery story). The referral letter should address the following: How long have you been working with the applicant? Are they active in their recovery journey? If so, in what ways? If not, please share why. How has the applicant shown improvement in their journey with mental health and/or substance use disorder? Please share how/why you feel this applicant will make a strong Peer Support Specialist.
