39 Years of Walking Beside Women Who Dared to Dream Again!

For 39 years, your support has empowered women throughout Kentucky and Appalachia. These are women rebuilding after trauma, navigating major life transitions, and choosing to believe in themselves again. Together, we have walked beside women as they earned credentials, strengthened their confidence, and opened doors to stable work, safer homes, and brighter futures for their families. And as we look toward our 40th year, we are planning more than a celebration. We are preparing a milestone year that deepens our impact, honors the courage of our graduates, and invites you to help shape what’s next.

Because of your generosity, 2025 was a year where connection turned into lasting change. Together, we didn't just gather. We created a sustaining community where women lift each other up through every challenge and triumph.

In 2025, we had 3,324 moments of growth: helping, educating, and connecting with NOSW sisters and women throughout Kentucky and Appalachia through our ongoing Grad Groups, our transformative 2-week Residential program, our Community 3-day program, leadership retreats, reunion events, one-on-one calls, emails, texts, tabling at community events, referrals to resources, and countless moments of encouragement. That's 3,324 touchpoints ensuring no woman walks alone. That's 3,324 moments of support that you made possible!

15 Women. Two Weeks. A Lifetime of Transformation.

Last year, 15 courageous women walked through our doors carrying burdens they'd carried alone for far too long: trauma that had silenced them, walls-built brick by brick to protect hearts that had been broken, and dreams they'd learned to whisper only in the dark.

For two transformative weeks in our residential program, these women did the bravest work of their lives. They dismantled the walls. They spoke the truths they'd been afraid to name. They cried tears that had waited years to fall, and they laughed with a freedom they'd forgotten existed.

In the safety of our community, they rediscovered the women they'd always been beneath the weight of survival. They found their voices: strong, clear, and unapologetic. They dusted off dreams that had been tucked away and dared to believe in them again. They discovered strengths they didn't know they possessed and vulnerabilities that connected them to something bigger than themselves.

And perhaps most powerfully, they found each other. In the eyes of other women, they saw their own reflections: their pain understood, their potential recognized, their worth unquestioned.

These 15 women didn't just complete a program. They stepped into their power. They became graduates. They became sisters. They joined a community of women who know what it means to rebuild yourself from the ground up and who will walk beside them for every step that comes next.

A New Chapter for New Opportunity School for Women

As we enter 2026, our vision is expanding in ways we've only dreamed of. We're laying groundwork for strategic initiatives that will deepen our reach across Kentucky and Appalachia while maintaining the personal, whole-person support that defines our work.

Our priority right now is strengthening our local bonds and celebrating this community that we've built together. For the first time in several years, we're thrilled to host a variety of community events and fundraisers throughout 2026. We want this to be a year of connection, celebration, and collective impact, and we invite you to be a part of it.
